Senior Social Worker

Hi, my name is Bernie McGunnigle. I am a 59-year-old Liverpudlian who has lived in West Yorkshire for the past 37 years. I am a mother to 3, stepmother to 2, kinship carer to 2 and grandmother to 6 — family is incredibly important to me.

I have 14 years’ experience as a qualified Supervising Social Worker within independent fostering agencies, and I am extremely passionate about working closely with foster carers and professionals involved in the lives of vulnerable children and young people, with a shared aim of supporting them to achieve positive outcomes.

Since becoming a kinship carer in 2005, I have faced many challenges which have given me a real understanding and insight into the demanding yet hugely rewarding role of a foster carer.

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join the wonderful team at Family Fostercare, and I look forward to getting to know and working with all of our foster carers.
